Visit Finnish homes in Sysmä

This unique tour takes you to visit Finnish manor houses and private homes in the vicinity of Sysmä village.  Step back in time to learn about Finnish manor houses, architecture and about the life of the locals!  Listen to distictive stories about local history and way of life.  The tour also includes a delicious lunch made from local ingredients, coffee and demontrations of the blacksmith at work.

First stop
Nordenlund Manor House

The Nordenlund manor house is about 200 years old and has been ownew by the current family since 1740.  The host tells about the history of the manor and the nowadays life.  The estate, currently comprising 330 hectares, is home to 100 head of beef.  In addition to beef, sugar beat and barley are also farmed.

Virtaa Manor House

Virtaa Manor house was built in the 1700s and is part of the valuable cultural landsacape in Sysmä.  Tje partly two-storey maor is known for its amazing ceiling paintings and unique guest room.  At the moment, it is owned by the fifth generation of the same family.

Vanha-Kartano (Old manor)

Old Manor was built in 1700s and represents the Empire style.  The manor is located only two kilometers from Virtaa Manor and these two manors have been co-owned in the earlier times.
